Lets Fast The Entire Year

Salaam, I hope everyone is in the best of health and in the state of increasing iman. I hope everyone had a great Eid. I spent mine in Six Flags New Jersey and Mashallah over 10,000 Muslims showed up. If we look back about three weeks ago, we were in the midst of the last ten days of Ramadan. Our Iman was high and we were close to Allah, supplicating, crying, and hopeful of his mercy. Needless to say those ten days were spectacular. In keeping with that Ramadan spirit the Prophet (saw) advised us to fast six days in the month of Shawwal(the month right after Ramadan). The Messenger of Allah said,  “Whoever fasts for six days after (Eid) al-Fitr has completed the year: (whoever does a good deed (hasanah) will have ten hasanah like it).” According to another report: “Allaah has made for each hasanah ten like it, so a month is like fasting ten months, and fasting six days completes the year.” In another Hadith narrarted by Ayyub(ra) he relates that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days from Shawwal it is as if they fasted the entire year.”

Now we know and have NO EXCUSE. I have fasted only two days this month so this is a reminder to me and all of you as well. Lets finish these six fasts, keep the spirit of ramadan alive in our hearts and get the reward of fasting for the entire year. keep me in your prayers, as I am in much need of them. The heart needs to beat…and so we stay alive. wsalaam
